Monk runes are still out, but somehow it seems like some of the hoarders have given up!

Let's hope so. Hoarders also might be selling back to the traders because, even if they bought something at 1k, most are able to sell back at a profit. AND, if players aren't buying from anyone but the merchants, hoarders will be forced to sell back to the merchants thereby restocking the supply.

They appear to be letting up, but it could also be that the European and Korean players that may be helping the economy before we American's bugger it up for the rest of the day

Slowly, I think the economy is coming around. I don't mind that superior monk runes are out of stock, since mainly exploiters want them. And none of my builds require any superiors, so I'm good for a while

Hmm, that seems like a really rubbish concept to me. I personally play alot of Caster characters (Main characters being Necro and Ele at the moment), so a Superior Rune for my primary damage dealing attribute is incredibly useful. I'm getting irritated at the lack of stock - that said, better out of stock temporarily than permanently inflated prices.

you may see them in the list but just try estimating them and this is what you will have :

only one of them was really available at that moment

It doesn't matter if the list shows it, but when you try to buy, it usually says something like, "sorry, we do not have any more left" or something like that. I was able to buy 8 monk runes in 5 minutes yesterday (kept 4 for myself, gave the rest to friends), so it's not impossible.

Get a major, much cheaper and easier to find. Save sups for selling if you make a new character. The 50+ plat is a good way to get outfitted in a hurry, get rushed to Droks, through missions, whatever.
